Cecret Lake

Yup, that is really how you spell it.  It's not a mistake.
Sometimes we get these really great ideas to go hiking when it is warm and nice.  But then we forget that it is probably not quite as warm and nice when we get to the top of a mountain.  Oops.  But, in early October, the weather was super nice and Steven found a family friendly hike for us to do, called Cecret Lake.  It took us quite a while to drive up there and we were really convinced that somewhere along the line, we had gone the wrong way.  And then, all of the sudden, there was the parking lot!  We figured out why they called it Cecret... because it really was in such a secret location.

The hike was actually a lot of fun, although the family picture would prove otherwise. (Noah hates pictures).  Noah did awesome on the way up, other than that he is obsessed with rocks and insisted on picking up every rock along the way.  So, needless to say, we didn't make excellent time.  But, he is a great little hiker, and Roxi loved being in the carrier and was content the whole way up the mountain.  On the way down, I carried Roxi in my sweatshirt, because Noah was tired and wanted to be in the carrier.

This was a fun hike because it was actually still a little difficult, even though it was totally doable for little kids.  And at the top, there was a beautiful, very well hidden, mountain lake.

Too bad the wind was howling at the top though!  We had brought a picnic lunch, but we had to scarf it down, because we were all so cold.  It wouldn't have been bad at all, except the wind!  Poor little Roxi was so sad.  And Noah really wanted to throw rocks in the water, but of course by the time we got to the top, there were no rocks around!  Ha!  So, we snapped some pictures and headed back down the mountain.  It really was a great day.  I'm glad that Steven comes up with fun ideas for our family to do together.
