Cameron ~ At TWO months!

Cameron is two months old today!  He is still the sweetest little guy.  Here are his stats ~

- He weighs about 12 lbs and is ?? inches long.  I can't believe how much faster he's growing than the other two did ~ guess that's what happens when I actually feed him.  haha!
- He just switched to size 2 diapers (we are using the last of the 1's today), and wears size 0-3 month clothes and a few 3-6 month, depending on what they are. Wow!  Noah wore 3-6 month clothes when he was 8 months old.  hahaha!
- He eats about every 2.5 to 3 hours, with one longer stretch at night.  There are still days when he wants to eat more often, which is not my favorite, but at least it's not every day anymore.
- He sleeps like a champ at night.  Wakes up just to eat and then goes right back to bed.  It's awesome!
- He's definitely not on any sort of napping schedule.  Steven and I joke that we were so strict with Noah and how laughable that is to us now... but Cameron is the opposite.  With 2 older siblings, there is no way to get him on a schedule yet.  Just in the last two days, I've actually put him in his crib for a nap!
- He's starting to hold eye contact a lot longer and has began to smile.  It is my favorite!  He has two cute dimples and a big giant grin, when he wants to show it off.
- He's a massive spitter!  I swear he would only have to eat 3 times a day, if he didn't spit everything up.  At night, I'm afraid he's going to choke, because I'll lay him back down in his crib and I can hear him gagging on his spit.  Poor kid.
- He's still super snuggly.  I love that!  In the middle of the night, I stay up way longer than I need to, so I can snuggle him.  But he really will just go straight back to bed after he eats.

Cameron ~ At ONE month!

Cameron is growing entirely too fast already.  I don't understand how pregnancy is so long and life is so short.  He's the sweetest, greatest little baby though.  We sure are glad he's here!

At one month he...

- weighs about 10 lbs.
- wears size 1 diapers and size 0-3 month clothes.  All of his newborn clothes are already too little!  Crazy!
- He eats every 1-2 hours, with a stretch of about 3 hours once a day.  It's brutal.  Really really brutal.  - He's a sweet snuggly thing.  I'm glad I get to cuddle him so much.

That pretty much sums him up. :)  There isn't much to babies at one month old.

Cam's first bath

Apparently a family affair - I don't remember him hating it like the other kids. Both Roxi and Noah were sure excited to get to help give Cam his bath.

Baby Cameron

Cameron had jaundice as a baby and had to sleep under the blue blanket (bili lights) and go to the doctor and get pricked a ton, which were both really hard for me... it was hard to get dressed and go somewhere every day. I didn't realize it then, but I should have stopped. It was also hard to not hold my baby. My baby's are the only comfort of post-partum depression for me. But man, he sure did look cute under those lights.
Poor kid though - the thing I remember the most is that he would pee in his diaper and it would leak onto the light, so every night he would wake up with pee all over himself because it had nothing to soak in to. There doesn't seem to be lasting damage, but it was still sad.
Speaking of which - Cam was a POOPER! He would poop every time we took his diaper off, it seemed. It was SO funny to scramble around trying to get wipes, a clean diaper (sometimes multiple clean ones, because we'd think he was done and then he'd start up again). ha!
But he was a good sweet baby. Now, at 3.5 years... he's still our good sweet baby. ;)

Memories recorded Dec 2019 of May/June 2016

Talking! And lots of it!

I can't even believe how much Roxi talks!  No joke, I bet it was a week after her birthday that she just started talking.  And within about a month, she was speaking in full sentences.

It is February now and it is hard to remember that she didn't talk for so long.  At her check up the doctor was slightly worried about her speech (as a doctor... as a parent, he said he wouldn't worry for a few more months.  haha!)  But Noah has always told us that Roxi would talk when she was 2, and sure enough, he was spot on.

Now, Roxi will have conversations with us.  And her favorite is "why?"  She asks why to everything.  And when we answer, she'll say, "Oh. Yeah."  As if she's known it all along and just forgot.  So cute!

Her other favorite thing to say is "No."  Um, not as cute.  She is definitely very opinionated and wants what she wants.  I'm grateful for her determination.  That is a great trait.  But it makes for a hard 2 year old.  Ha!

Cameron David joins the family

I didn't keep a record of this for the blog, but luckily I did at least journal it. I'm not totally hopeless. Here's the journal entry:

So, I was scheduled to be induced on May 12th, but my due date wasn’t actually until the 17th, which means the Dr. wouldn’t induce me unless I was thinning and dilating all on my own.  I was so paranoid it wouldn’t happen!  I went to the doctor the week before and was still at zero for both.  I seriously started trying everything ~ sex, walks around the block, bouncing on an exercise ball for hours.  You name it, I’d try it.  Ha!  And let me just say… not one of those things were super fun at 9 months pregnant.  Hahaha!  J
So, I was supposed to have an appointment on May 10th, so the night before, I finally realized there was not much else I could do, and that I best just deal with the fact that I may not get induced.  I decided to have a bubble bath and go to bed.  It was super relaxing and I had a good night.
At about 12:30am, I woke up thinking I had to go to the bathroom.  Which very quickly switched the realization that my water was breaking (no one has that much pee).  Ha!  So, after I emptied myself, I woke up Steven and we started texting some people in our ward.  Luckily, my friend Amanda Cox woke up when I called and she came down and slept on our futon and took care of the kids.  Yay!  I’m so grateful for her being willing to do that!  My mom wasn’t scheduled to come until Wednesday night.
We headed to the hospital and I started getting minor contractions.  Nothing too intense.  When I got there, they said Dr. Terry wasn’t coming on until 7am, so I didn’t really want to have the baby before he got there.  I opted to not start the Pitocin or epidural quite yet.  I held off on the epidural until about 4:30am, at which point, I was dilated to about a 4 and was starting to shake from the intensity of the contractions.  I didn’t like the shaking… the nurse said it was just hormones, but it scared me and reminded me of how I felt after Noah was born.  But once the epidural was in, I felt fine again.  It was actually a perfect epidural, because I could still move my toes/legs a bit and could feel just enough pressure, but couldn’t feel the contractions.
At about 5:30am, I was a 4+ and I didn’t want to be there all day, so I opted for the Pitocin.  That apparently worked very quickly, because at shift change, the new nurse came in to introduce herself and I asked the two nurses if I could get checked (it had been a while) and said that I could feel pressure.  Well, sure enough – she checked me and I was at an 8.  Yay!
(Dr. Terry came in about then too, just to say hello and said we’d have this baby by lunchtime.  When he said that, I thought it may be sooner.  ;)  It sure was!)
So, the nurse told me I was ready and that they’d prep me for delivery.  Dr. Terry came back in and I did one push.  I totally didn’t do it right and nothing happened.  Ha!  I had to be reminded of how to push.  So on the next contraction, I got it right and little Cameron’s head popped out.  It was weird, ‘cuz Steven said, “His head is out,” and I started crying and said, “I know.”  I could totally feel it.  Weird.  On the next contraction, Dr. Terry cut me just a tiny bit because Cameron’s heart pressure dropped, but he came out on that push!  SO EASY!  Seriously, I could have a hundred kids if all I had to do was labor.  J  So, Cameron was born at 7:47am, right after Dr. Terry got there and shift change occurred.  So fun.  He was totally healthy and Dr. Terry knew right away he was a big baby.  He told me it was my personal best, but I didn’t even believe him, because it seemed too easy for a 9lb baby, but sure enough!
Steven, who was seriously lacking in sleep, was about to cut the cord and had a few of his little seizure twitches. I got nervous and told him to go lay down!  He eventually did, which was good.  He really was close to passing out on that one.
After they cleaned Cameron up, I just got to hold him for a long time.  Steven went home to get the kids (we weren’t sure how long Amanda wanted to be in charge of them), and they took me up to recovery.  It was lovely.
Noah and Roxi came to meet their brother and loved him from the very beginning.  Especially Noah.  Roxi held him for a bit and liked to pat his head and say “hello baby boy.”  Noah wanted to hold him the whole time though.  He was so excited… still is!  It’s adorable to watch him.  At this point, we still didn’t have a name, although we were pretty set on Cameron.  (We have known David would be the middle name for a long time).  Once Noah got there though, we asked him if baby’s name should be Cameron David and he said yes.  That sealed the deal.  The kids have always said his name should be Spiderman Bobby, so I asked Noah if that should still be his name and he very matter of factly said, “No Mom.  His name is Cameron David.”  So there it was.  No more questioning.  J

10 May 2019 (Cameron's birthday)

Roxana at 2 years!

My baby girl is no longer a baby!  It is the strangest thing.  I think what really gets me is that it happened practically over night.

I took Roxi in for her 2 year check up and she is ______ lbs and _______ inches tall.  That puts her in about the 50% for both weight and height.  Last time she was about 30% for height (at 18 months), so she has had a massive growth spurt.  (I knew that... it happened right after my bi-annual trip to the Just Between Friends sale to buy her clothes... where I failed to actually buy the right size, since she hadn't grown at all.  Thanks a lot sassy little sister).

While at the Dr. we discussed the fact that she doesn't talk.  Just a week or so before her birthday, a friend of mine was watching her and Noah while I was catching up on much needed "I hate being pregnant" rest.  When I picked her up, my friend said "Wow, she is really smart!  She doesn't talk at all, but she totally communicates in ways that people understand her and she can get what she needs."  Yup, that sums her up perfectly.  So, the Dr. was a bit concerned by her lack of vocabulary, and suggested speech therapy, but then said that as a parent, he probably wouldn't worry too much about it yet.  We are opting to follow that advice.  ha!

So, here we are a couple of weeks after her birthday, and guess what?!  The girl talks like crazy!  No joke... I bet her vocabulary has gone from 10 words to about 100, in the course of just a few weeks since turning 2.  It is amazing to watch, as she learns to say new words every day.  Goes to show that she totally knew how to talk before ~ she just wasn't do it.  Noah has been telling us all along that Roxi will talk when she turns two.  Guess we should have listened to him.  haha!

So, other than growing and talking, Roxi is tons of fun and super sassy.  She doesn't love things like prayers and scripture study, but we sure do try anyway.

She really really loves Noah.  She likes to play with anything he is playing with and wants to be around him.

She loves baby dolls, cars, "Papa jammies" and snacks.  She is not a fan of actual meals, but is sure to ask for a snack 10 minutes after every meal is done.

She loves the color purple.  I'm sure this has something to do with the fact that Noah has been telling her that it is her favorite color ever since I can remember.

She knows quite a few of her colors and likes to color pictures.  She is becoming more aware of books and reading, and likes that a bit more than she used to.  She's still not one to pay attention to a book for very long, unless there is some sort of interaction with the story.

She has the craziest hair that is so thin, and yet gets so tangled every day.  I don't even understand it.  Ha!  She is good to sit still while I do her hair though, and every time we are done, she stands up next to the mirror, smiles really big and says "Cheese!"

She has yet to give up her pacifiers, (her "bobbies" as she calls them), and doesn't seem to have any desire to.  That could be tricky ~ especially when there is a new bobbie lover in the house.  She still sleeps in a crib and is quite content in there.  In fact, she even sleeps through the night, most nights and has a regular 1.5 hour nap every day.  Yay!  Only took her 2 years.  ;)

We sure do love our Roxana.  I feel like Daddy Warbucks in Annie, when he says, "I never thought I'd get used to a girl."  But I sure am glad to have her around.
