What happened to my baby?!

Noah is getting so big, all of the sudden.  We went to the doctor for his six month check up last week, and I told her that he could almost sit up by himself.  She said that's normal and in the next couple of months, his hips will develop and he'll be able to sit up.  Well, he must have understood her and decided to just sit up, because the very next day, he had it down.  I think in the week since, he has only fallen over three or four times, which is kind of amazing, if you ask me.  Something just clicked inside his head.

I'm not sure if I've said it before on here, but watching him grow and develop is the most amazing thing I've ever seen in my life.  I can't believe how fast he learns things!  At any rate, this new "trick" has brought even more free hands time to me, which I obviously love.  :)

He looks so grown up sitting on this little bench! 10 May
And remember when he was so skinny?  Look at that belly! 14 May
And just chillin' with his toys.  Amazing! 15 May

Almost right

You just go ahead and chew on that pacie any way you want!

Mothers Day

Sometimes it's good to be the mom.  Especially on Mothers day.  Noah and Steven spoiled me all day!  I got cinnamon rolls in the morning, a great afternoon nap, followed by alone time to watch a chic flick and make a wreath I've been wanting to make, and a delicious salmon dinner.  And to top it all off, I get a day at the spa ~wahoo!~ and some awesome new candles.  Yup, sometimes it's good to be the mom!
Doesn't that look amazing?!  Plus, it's fun to get to use the celebrate plate, which only comes out for special occasions.
When I was a kid, I used to wonder why there was Mothers day and Fathers day, but no "kids day."  I have come to realize that every day is kids day. I am grateful that at least one day a year is devoted only to moms or dads.  And I am grateful to have a husband who realizes just how important that day of rest is for the mom.

But most of all, I'm grateful to this cute little boy who made me the mom.

At six months

I can't believe our baby is SIX months old!  This past month has especially seemed to fly by.  Here is the latest list that makes my kid cooler than yours...
- He weighs 14 lb 14 oz (10 %) and is 26 inches long (35 %).
- He has recently learned to play peek-a-boo all by himself, always with a huge smile for his accomplishment.
- He thinks fake sneezes are the funniest thing ever... but only if Dad does it.  If Mom does it, then he just thinks she's crazy.  Dad = laugh for hours.
- He also has very ticklish thighs, which bring great laughs.
- He is super close to rolling from back to tummy, but we don't encourage this so much as we did with tummy to back because we don't want to childproof the home.
- He sleeps through the night most nights.  Hallelujah!
- Recently, he has decided that naps are overrated.  We are hoping that this will be a short phase.  (It was... only about a week).
- He loves to play with his toys (and already has entirely too many) and sticks everything in his mouth!
- He continues to eat well and hasn't tried anything that he doesn't like.  Although he seems to be a little sick of rice cereal.
- He has found his feet and toes.  Holy cow, so cute!

"No more pictures!  I'm done!"

Just call me Mozart

We recently purchased my parents piano, which has been a lovely addition to our front room.  It has also brought a great spirit into our family home evenings, as I (try to) play and Steven and I (kind of) sing.  Well, it makes us laugh at least.  We are planning on being those mean parents who make our kid take piano lessons against his will.  I'm sure there will be lots of tears shed some day.

But for now, Noah seems to really love it!

Circle of Neglect

Noah spends a lot of time playing.  He has a ridiculous amount of toys, thanks mostly to our dear friend Wendy.  He plays on the floor, rolls around (not over, just around), does tummy time for about a nanosecond before flipping back over, kicks, squeals and giggles.  He doesn't have a favorite toy... probably in part due to the fact that we give him a different pile of toys every day.  But, the kid loves to play.

The floor was his only place to really play until we went to visit home and Aunt Karyn gave him this awesome exersaucer bouncer.  Each day he loves it a little bit more.  This makes mom happy, because when he's done with floor time, he can jump around in there for a while longer and keep himself entertained.  It's no wonder that my good friend so lovingly refers to this as the "circle of neglect."  God bless you, Fisher Price.  And THANK YOU Aunt Karyn!

The ol' homestead

In the middle of April, we took a trip down to see Steven's family for the weekend.  The weather was beautiful and our little Noah was a trooper in the car.  However, we realized that Noah is aware that he sleeps in his own room and doesn't like to sleep anywhere else.  I'm not sure anyone else even minded that he was a cranky kid the entire weekend, but it about gave me an aneurysm.  I was not a fan of my sleepy little guy.  Hopefully by the next time we travel, he will learn to just sleep anywhere.

At any rate, the weekend was a ton of fun.  Karyn brought over a little pool and the kids played in there for a long time.   Dave brought his kids up for the weekend too.  And we were able to eat great barbecue and celebrate Ella's birthday.  We even watched an entire movie in one setting, after Noah finally went to bed one night!  It's always nice to be in a cell phone dead zone and relax for a few days.

Just chillin'

Flipping gang signs... nice.  Ha!
First time in a pool
Oh, that is a cute bum

And somehow, we failed to get any pictures with Noah and Grandma and Grandpa.  Terrible.  Some parents we turned out to be.  But, I guess it just means we'll get to take another trip soon!  :)
